Centre for Business (CFA) was established in 2005 as one of the School's strategic initiatives. The mission, which was awarded the Centre is to ensure the students' future competence as clients and users of IT-related products and services. Another aim is to increase the students' employability.
Since 2005, CFA worked to support education and research at the school, and to act venue for business and academia around business-related issues. This work has been well received both internally and externally and in the current situation is the School of Business, Economics and law a national leader in the field.
CFA has built an infrastructure and a technological environment in which students, researchers and teachers have access to a wide range of leading business and decision support solutions. Providers such as SAP, Microsoft, Jeeves, Hogia, QlikTech and Agresso have participated in financing the establishment of CFA and the development of educational materials especially designed for the education a school needs.
With a conscious strategy to become leaders in Sweden on these issues CFA also runs the question of the usage of ERP systems in education nationally. The question is operated within the network, "Scandinavian Academic Network for Teaching Enterprise Systems (SANTE). The network has been developed by CFA to also provide universities with access to the same educational environment that is provided to the school in the current situation. The initiative is called SANTE Academy and currently CFA supplies seven of the major universities. This is also part of the Centre's funding and is expected to grow in the coming years.
CFA is led by a steering committee appointed by the Vice Chancellor, University of Gothenburg and a Business Council, where a selection of representatives from major companies in the region and system vendors support the Centre's strategic development.
CFA has in the current situation affected about 5,000 students at the school through training events. The staff consists of five employees and a smaller number of associated visiting scholars.
